Michael R. Brooks joined the firm as a law clerk in August of 2000. As the only clerk in the firm he assisted all attorneys in nearly all areas of practice with a focus on real estate, municipal law, personal injury, contract disputes and land use matters.
Michael’s legal career and personal advancement have been delayed twice by his service in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Michael is currently a Staff Sergeant, selected for promotion to Gunnery Sergeant, serving as the Company Gunnery Sergeant with A Company, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines out of Topsham, Maine, after serving in various capacities for nearly 15 years in B Company, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines out of Londonderry, New Hampshire.
Michael’s unit was mobilized for the entirety of 2003 by order of the President of the United States in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism where he served a tour of duty in Southeast Asia.
Upon returning from his service to our country, Michael sat for and passed the Maine Bar Examination. He was admitted to practice in October 2005. Prior to commencing an active practice as an attorney, duty called again.
Michael’s unit was mobilized again in December 2005 for the majority of 2006 by order of the President of the United States in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he did a tour of duty in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq.
Michael returned to work for the firm in December of 2006 when he resumed his clerk role with regard to New Hampshire cases and began taking responsibility for the majority of the firm’s cases in Maine with the assistance of Attorney Dewhurst. Michael is focusing his Maine practice on real estate, estate planning, probate and personal injury. He continues to assist Attorney Dewhurst with the firm’s New Hampshire caseload.

Michael was born and raised in Madison, New Hampshire where he lives with his wife, Cheryl, a son, Jonathon and daughters, Katherine and Alyssa in a house built with family assistance on land that has been in his grandfather’s family for five generations.
When his military, work and civic schedules permit, Michael enjoys working on the family farm, hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with family and friends.
